    • Hello Mayank,

      1. Any one book which will follow complete GATE syllabus is really hard to find. But you may find 70-80% GATE syllabus in one books. Which we have marked as star in our book list.
      2. There any many reference guides for GATE which are mentioned on our book list page. For individual subjects you must follow question at the last of standard books and solve them politely.
      3. Hours doesn’t matter, target matters. So set target for each hour, each day ….
4.1. Actually EDC contain lots of things in it. EDC means electronics devices & Circuits, So now I hope you understand this much can’t read just by reading a book.
All 4 books are good, necessary and sufficient for GATE EDC subject preparation.
4.2. A is good if you like to read Indian author otherwise B option is best.

    0)what are the total marks.

3)is the cgpa considered for qualification.
4)how will be the gate exam paper compared to iit-jee exam (i.e.,very much skill and knowledge to apply or practise in many problems) as tough as jee.

    • Hello ravi,

      0) 100
      1) Depends upon many factors like number of candidates appear in GATE exam, difficulty level of GATE paper, number of seats in IIT. Atleast 50% marks.
      2) We will update soon cut offs for IITs. You please check this blog regularly.
      3) Yes cgpa will considered for qualification but just for qualification not for selection.
      4) GATE exam is not as much as competitive as IIT JEE but it is one of the most competitive examination among engineering graduates.

  22. hello sir,
As you said your salary is 3 LPA if we take a look on other side PSUs which are recruiting through GATE pay atleast 6 LPA as high as 13.5 LPA (PGCIL) to electrical engineers. Its your decision if you still have good command on engineering subjects and can maintain time on daily basis for study then according to me you must prepare.
Because from 3 LPA to 6 LPA you need to work for 3-4 years more in the company you are working currently on the other side if you work hard 1 or 2 year for GATE and selected in any of the PSUs through GATE you would get better salary as well as better life and progress.

  23. I passed out in 2014, did Electrical engineering from SPCE, Mumbai. I currently work in an HVAC company with 3 LPA. Should I try and go for some PSUs through GATE 2016, or stick and move forward through what I’m currently into?

  24. Hello sir, am in 3rd year EEE, I want to take up GATE 2016 to get into IIT’s. How much rank and percentile should I get in order to get into IIT’s? I want to do self study instead of joining any academy. How many months of preparation would be required? Basically am an average student. What is the minimum percentage required in engineering to get into IIT’s, as my percentage in engineering 1st year is 58%? Thank you.

  25. Hello rahul,

You must read For GATE rank for IIT : http://www.gate2016.info/gate-guidance/gate-score-analysis/

About preparation month : It depends upon your previous knowledge of technical & non technical subjects if you have studied well at your graduation level then 3-6 months are enough for cracking GATE with good rank but if you didn’t study well then you need a whole year preparation with full dedication. You have enough time for GATE 2016 start preparation as soon as possible.

There is nothing mentioned about percentage criteria for getting admission into IIT’s through GATE. They consider your GATE score instead of your B. Tech./ B. E. percentage. However institute may use their own criteria while selecting candidates for their M. Tech./ M. E. / P. Hd. programmes.

  26. Hi…
thanks for sharing this list of books with us. this is very important for me.
Grateful for sharing it. let me if you any more such information.

  27. Gud evening sir, i am a student of EEE 3rd year, i have two backs in previous semesters, can i get a job in PSU’s…???

    • Hello Akash,
      very good evening.
First of all don’t worry about yours backs it will not affect your selection in any PSU.
But to reduce the effect of this issue you need to be more clear is your concepts bcz after clearing GATE exam you would be short listed for GD/PI there you would be examined as per their requirement and they will not prefer a mere knowledge candidate than good one.
Your final selection would depend upon GD/PI bcz GATE score of almost all candidates called for GD/PI is same bcz they call only toppers of GATE.
As you said you are in 3rd year you still have one year try to get maximum score from this year and obviously also clear your backs within 4 year of engineering.

      • Gud morning sir,
thank u very much sir for clearing that doubt, i was very much tensed about that beacause i will appear in GATE-16, and i am preparing for it.
Actually i have backs in non technical subjects, thermodynamics in 1st year and mechanics, and i am an electrical student.
        thank u again sir…

  28. sir
i am a 4th year EEE student. I need a job in any of the core companies through GATE 2016.is there any chance for that, by self study.Do you have any suggestions to me??

    • Hello Swarnaa,
Yes you can clear GATE 2016 with good rank from self study.
You need to keep these things in your mind while preparing self for GATE 2016 :
      (1) Many times you would feel you need some guidance during your preparation. So try to contact to your seniors or friends who have cleared GATE already. You may get guidance from Facebook too.
      (2) You need to arrange some good coaching institute study material. Remember not a single institute is always good in all subjects but u can arrange a single good study material as per your requirement from choosing from different different coaching institutes study material.

If you are able to arrange these two mainly than no need to join any coaching because coaching is for mainly save your time but many times it waste your time.
If u r serious about GATE preparation n want to utilize your whole time and if u have studied well at your graduation level than no need to join coaching just sit on chair n start preparation. You may join any or many test series for last time preparation. I have seen many GATE topper who just read standard book n make in GATE top 10 list.

You must check : How to start preparation for gate 2016 ? – http://www.gate2016.info/gate-guidance/how-to-start-preparation-for-gate-2016/

    • Hi Swarnaa,

Yes you can get good jobs in PSU by writing Gate 2016. You can start preparation from now only as you will have enough time to revise and test your preparation with test series.
If you want to go for self study, then you have to be very serious about books or material you are going to choose. You can get book list from many sites but you have to see whether it’s going to suit to your level or not.You can opt for local authors book also if you are facing difficulties in understanding the concepts.Remember Gate is all about “Understanding the basic concepts” .If you are comfortable with such books and you have time then i will recommend to go for standard books like Sedra Smith or Jacob Millman etc.
      Now about preparation:
Always start with a plan. What i followed during my preparation was to prepare one tough subject in between two easy. This keeps my momentum going as sometime core electrical subjects takes time for completion and students start to lose momentum or interest as they will be trailing from their study plan. I followed this pattern: Signal Systems ->Machines->Control Systems->Power Systems->Network Theory->Power Electronics->Analog & Digital. If you are preparing for only Gate then you can give less importance to Instrumentation and Field Theory as collectively they come for about 10 marks and by engineering knowledge you can score 3-4. So why to waste good time for 6 marks in these two subjects instead give this time in Power Systems or Machines.Make realistic study plan which can be followed by you so that you do not lose the track in between. This is most important as very good students fails in planning and they have to suffer at last.
Practice makes a man perfect. So follow this rule and solve as many as problem you can solve. If you are done with problems then re-solve previous year questions .At last go for test series. Either Ace Academy or Made Easy.Ace academy has more no of tests in a package but attendance is low comparatively Made Easy has good attendance which can give you more real projection of your standing.
If you have any queries you can let me know.
Hope to see you in Top Rankers’ list 🙂

      If introduction matters:

    • of course u can…u just start from the basics of every topic, for which u select the books in which u can get all the basic concepts and theory. As you have less time so choose that topic in which u r more interested and can give ur best within less time. Good Luck…
