“I am from Electronics and communication engineering, What education qualification should I fill in RRB application form ?

I am from Electrical & electronics engineering, What education qualification should I fill in RRB application form ?
You all must have this kind of questions in your mind nowadays.
Below article will solve this puzzle of yours. Just take a look.”

Original Question :

“I think VLSI design engineering, control engineering, telecommunication engineering, digital electronics engineering, analog electronics engineering, embedded system engineering, power electronics engineering, radio engineering, robotics engineering etc are sub-stream of electronics engineering. Electronics & communication engineering is eligible as degree in electronics and hence track machine post. Many students in this forum are confused. Please enlighten them. This is my request to you. Thanking you sir.”
Asked by : joyonto

Hello joyonto & all,

“Electronics and Communication may eligible under Electronics engineering but it would surely be eligible under Sub stream of Electronics engineering.”

Earlier nearly 10-15 years ago there was no Electronics and communication engineering, there was only Electronics engineering. Communication section was separated from Electronics engineering and named as Telecommunication engineering.

When you go through the notification you will find that even 40-45 years old candidates can apply for RRB recruitment in some special cases, such as Sr. section engineer age limit is 20-34 years plus 15 year for SC/ST PH candidates, means total maximum age for such candidate is 49 years. So those candidates must have studies Electronics engineering during their period not Electronics and communication engineering. So that Electronics engineering option belongs to them because they did their engineering in Electronics engineering only.

If Electronics and communication engineering is eligible under Electronics engineering then why RRB made such extensive list of eligibility ? Once think. Selecting wrong education qualification may lead you in trouble at the time of document verification.

There is no course at the bachelor stage of engineering with name :

VLSI design engineering,
Digital electronics engineering,
Analog electronics engineering,
Embedded system engineering,
These are master degree courses, specialized courses under electronics engineering and obviously one who is going to do master must have completed bachelor stage.

Control engineering and
Power electronics engineering comes under Electrical engineering.

Telecommunication engineering and
R
adio engineering (earlier it was known as radio and television engineering) comes under Communication engineering.

Robotics engineering comes under Mechanical engineering.

RRB Bangalore Notice related to Education Qualification

As per this Notice :

  1. yes sir…..u r ri8……ECE as substream of electronics is safest.i m sorry abt some information. But i got a reply from RRB,where they have written ECE graduate is eligible for SSE track machine post(actually i mailed them if electronics and communication graduate is eligible for SSE track machne post).actually sir ,nobody can deny ECE graduate has not studied ELECTRONICS completely.u can check the syllabus electronics(theory plus practical) and ECE engineering, there is no difference in syllabus, except ECE has to study communication bit additional(therefore it would hv been injustice if simple electronics has more post than ECE).but power “electronics”(deals with 3or 4 layer semiconductor devices),medical electronics(BE courses r available 4 these subjects) do come under substream of electronics.radio and television engineering comes both under substream of communication and also electronics.syllabus of radio engineering covers almost all the syllabus for electronics except microprocessor, power electronics and control system.control engineering is a substream of both electrical nd also electronics, just like mechatronics(BE) is substream of mechanical as well as electrical.i blv so after extensively reading the syllabus.what all i want to say ,how ECE student can be punished for studying extra subject(communication),ater all they have studied all the subjects that electronics engineering student studies.but your concern is also correct sir

    • Hello joyonto,

At the time of document verification.
The person who would sitting there to check your documents will do everything as per instruction.
If for a particular post only Electronics engineering is applicable but not Sub stream of Electronics engineering.
Even after qualifying exam you would be disqualified for that post.
RRB recruit in 20-30 various kind of posts of SSE and nearly same for JE. In which every kind of post is mix of almost all branches of engineering.
So there must be some rule for a particular post and education qualification for this.
I don’t think they will go into research for every candidate.

I tried to give you better & safer solution.
Rest depends upon applicant. Final decision always depends upon an applicant.

      • Sir, one of my friend selected in SSE track machine post. She is from ECE,but she has given her qualification as “degree in electronics”.on the document verefication day,the officer told her selected qualification is ok and evrythng completed fine. But now she is now upset seeing substream issue in many websites(actually many websites towards substream and many towards electronics). So i would like to ask u sir,if she can consider herself safe as DV officer okays to her,or there is possibility that her candidature may be rejected in future due to qualification she choosed

        • Hello disha,

RRB examination is centralized but Recruitment is RRB based.
If an RRB clear you in document verification then it doesn’t matter what you have filled in your application form.
What I wrote is for clearing doubt and justifying why RRB provided such an extensive list of education qualification.

Let me explain you a little :
When you fill any PSU application form there is written that education qualification is Electrical engineering and related sub-stream which are allowed in this Electrical engineering mentioned in a separate table. Those sub category/group are applicable under Electrical engineering like Electrical and electronics engineering, Power engineering etc.
But what if a PSU/Govt organization put Electrical engineering and Electrical and electronics engineering in two separate category of education qualification.
Being an Electrical and electronics engineer, what would you choose ?
Electrical engineering and Electrical OR electronics engineering ?

I just provided the above information for keeping an applicant in safe side.
Rest depends upon applicant, he/she can choose whatever they want.

  19. Sir should i go in formals for writing the exam
    plz plz tell sir

  20. Let me tell you all here that Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering is a SUPER STREAM of Electronics Engineering & a SUPER STREAM of Telecommunication Engineering both. Sub stream is when a post graduate applies for the same.

Why it could not be “Degree in combination of substreams of main stream of ELECTRONICS/ TELECOMMUNICATION Engineering”?
    >> Because what would a ECE student select then! As courtesy this way it means that either of the blaa blaa combination of main stream of Telecommunication Engg is also an correct option.

  21. ECE student can actually apply to Degree in Electronics Engg or to Degree in Telecommunication Engg. Because ECE student is meant to select either of them. As the option “Degree in E&TC Engg” was missing, then the aspirants from E&TC (ECE) are free to choose the either option between “Degree in Electronics Engg” and “Degree in Telecommunication Engg”; provided that they will be applicable to only those posts which come under the selected option as an educational qualification.
Relax the substream stuff is for those who have completed degree in some specialized subject.

  22. a very happy news embedded in wht wrote in RRB bangalore notice.plz read the last two line.it says degree in CERTIFICATE should match with the qualification prescribed for the post.it means one who gets selected in track machine post only, he/she may be rejected…..but in all other post, one is eligible nd will be selected even if he/she filled degree in electronics inspite of substream(bcoz substream qualiication is prescribed for all other post(except track machine) that is listed for us)).actually i enquired nd found that in alp, there is no substream case………only degree in electronics/electrical/ mechanical/automobile mentioned.so the notice came for them only

  23. heloo sir i have registered for je exam in chennai circle i have not yet get my hall ticket till now wethere i get my hall ticket on mail id…………

  24. Sir I am selected as SSE in Dsl/Mech in SCR region. Now I am presently working as PO in public sector bank .

Now I have received the call letter for medical test.

In that they have mentioned”If you are already in Govt/Quasi Govt.service ,you have to bring a certificate duly attested by First Class Executive Magistrate to the effect that you have severed connection with your employer only after completion of all formalities for appointment and successfully completed the medical examination”

So can you please explain what I have to do……

    • Hello Ravikrishnan,

Could you please first give me answer of these two questions :
      (1) Did you inform your bank about this exam before attending it ?
      (2) Does your bank allow attending any exam without their permission ?

  25. Sir, the results of je and sse will sent to the candidates registered mail id for cen 01/2015. Is there any possibility of results with in one month?????????

    • Hello rajesh,

Result may come soon this time because RRB is conducting online examinations this time but still we can’t say about how many month RRB will take for publishing result.

Feel free to ask if you need any help in future & join us @ Google+ / Facebook for getting regular updates.

  26. Sir In case If an Electronics & Telecommunication Engineer has selected the option as “Degree in Electronics Engineering”. Then will the candidature get rejected during Document Verification? Or are there any hopes? And Why only “Degree in combination….. of Electronics Engineering”? Why not “Degree in combination….. of Communication Engineering”? Because It doesn’t convince my wits as ECE should also be considered as a sub stream of a Communication Engineering- Branch!!!…
