GATE Candidates Appeared 2023 – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology.
Admission to postgraduate programmes with government scholarships/assistantships in engineering colleges/ institutes/ Universities is open to those who qualify through this test. The score is also used by many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for employment screening purposes.
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of GATE. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore the organizing institute for GATE 2024. As per previous history GATE 2024 would be most probably organized by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
The candidates need to apply separately to each of the IITs, IISc, NITs and other institutes/universities to seek admission to various post-graduate and doctoral programmes.
The candidates have to visit the websites of the respective institutes/universities for details regarding the admission. In GATE 2023 the application process is online with an online fee payment option and downloadable admit cards.

How many candidates applied for GATE 2022?
A total of 5,97,030 candidates have applied for the GATE 2022. GATE 2022 was held in 30 papers, including two new papers introduced by IIT, Kharagpur (the organising institute).
What is a good rank in GATE?
For admission into top IITs, the student must score a GATE rank below 200. However, the students having a rank in the range of 600-800 can also get admission into IITs and IIITs. For admission into leading NITs, the students should score a GATE rank in 350-800 range.
Is GATE marking negative?
There is a negative marking for every incorrect response i.e. For 1 mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for marking an incorrect answer. For 2 mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for marking an incorrect answer.
What is valid GATE score?
Your score is only valid when it is above or equal to the score of qualifying marks. For example, if you have 16 marks and the qualifying marks for that year are mentioned as 25, then your GATE score is not valid.”
Is GATE exam for 1000 marks?
The GATE score of a candidate is obtained using a formula out of 1000 while the marks of a candidate is the actual number secured by a candidate in the exam out of 100.
What happens if we qualify GATE?
Candidates qualifying GATE can get into NITs, IIITs, IITs and CFTIs on the basis of their scores. So, a candidate needs to qualify the GATE cutoffs in order to get admission in any of these institutes. For admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs, candidates are required to participate in the CCMT counselling.
Which IIT can I get with 2000 rank in GATE?
If you are General/OBC category candidate then you still have great chance to get many good NITs and New IITs.
If your Rank is in between 2000–4000 then you can go for NIT Allahabad, NIT Bhopal, IIT Dhanbad,IIT BHU(2K-3K),DTU ( Best option ). If you are SC/ST category candidate then you get Old IITs and Top NITs also.
Can we crack GATE in 4 months?
A 4 months GATE preparation plan will be a good idea to crack the GATE exam. Create the preparation plan daily wise or weekly wise by giving enough time for each subject.
Your plan should include syllabus completion, revision, and practice of tests. It is a good idea to make a timetable and formulate your daily tasks.

Cut-off for any PSU depends upon many factors like difficulty level of GATE paper, no of vacancies notified by each and all PSUs etc. So it is really hard to calculate how much marks would be safe.

According to official keys released by iisc bang for GATE16, I’m getting 34.67 actul marks (cse branch and belong to OBC). What will be my rank approx? And what should I do next? Please list down the colleges which have good placements and I am eligible for that. I am very confused. Please guid me.

and how we will be benefited?
i.e. if our slot paper is tougher than others or

Consider a situation that I got a rank in top 300 and i haven’t filled the form of the PSU recruitment
and my friend who has got a rank in 300-500 get a call since he has filled the form.
then is there any chance of getting a call from them?

Normalization depends upon many factors. There is a normalization formula provided by GATE office in GATE 2016 information brochure. You may check that.

If you will not fill any PSUs from you will not get call for any further process from any PSU even if you get 1st rank in gate.

1) How many candidates depends upon jobs requirement in PSUs for the year 2016 for a particular stream. For this you need to check all PSUs notification which are recruiting through GATE 2016 about how many seats they are notifying for IN stream for this year : http://www.gate2016.info/psus-2016-application/
2) Cut off depends upon many factors like number of candidates appear in GATE exam, difficulty level of GATE paper, number of seats in each PSUs. You can get some idea from previous years cut-offs but you can’t get some certain cut-offs. I hope you are understanding.

Does the Value of GATE score reduces depending upon the number of attempts?
As if i had appeared for GATE15 but didnt get a good rank..now if i am going to appear for GATE16..then if i get a good rank does the importance decrease?
As if a candidate is giving gate16 for the first time and i am giving for the second time and we both are getting the same rank…and we both apply for the same course.. then is there any possibility that he gets more priority then me because he is a freasher and i am applying for second time?

No it will not affect your chances in any kind of selection process either it is an entrance exam or an interview.
